I am starting this post by reminiscing to being pregnant with my first baby, Cammy, and putting together a baby registry. Oh my goodness— everything sounded exciting and everything sounded necessary. 10 packs of baby towels? Needed it. 35 white onesies? Needed them all. 4 different baby swings? Yep! One for every room! Baby wipe warmer? Only the best for my babe! Pacifier wipes? Well, I couldn’t have dirty pacis lying around! Ha the list goes on and on. It was cute, but most of it was all so unnecessary. (For instance- did you know regular adult towels can try an infant as well?? I know, crazy, right? And y’all, just forget the wipe warmers. You do NOT want to get your baby used to only warm wipes because you will be in for a battle when you’re out and about with just regular old cool-to-room-temperature wipes.)
When we decided to relocate to Memphis temporarily, I did not have the luxury or the room to pack EVERYTHING for my 2 month old Ronan. Instead, I made a list of my cant-live-without essentials and headed to buybuybaby.com to have these items shipped to my parents’ house (where the kiddos and I are staying for 5 months). My Breast Friend Nursing Pillow
If you follow me on instagram, then you may know that Ro was born with a tongue tie that required us to work through issues with with the help of our lactation consultant. One of the big things that has helped us with our journey is proper nursing positioning. Full transparency here- I typically use a Boppy pillow for nursing but another tongue tie mom recommended the breast friend nursing pillow so I decided to order this one. While I DO like it, in hind sight I wish I had just stuck with a Boppy pillow. I think that is more due to a familiarity reason.
As a NICU nurse, safe sleep habits are really important to me. Luckily, there are many options when it comes to bassinets and cosleepers on buybuybaby.com, but based on reviews I decided to go with the Fisher-Price Soothing Motions Bassinet (the Halo Bassinest Swivel Sleeper was also at the top of my list but the Fisher-Price was $100 less expensive). I have been really happy with this choice. The vibrations are subtle and soothing, and the dim lighting is perfect for midnight feeds.
Ok so I had a bit of a leg up when it came to ordering bottles because I already knew that Ronan prefers Dr. Browns bottles (these were recommended to us from my lactation consultant since I had to pump and feed while we worked out some latch issues). For registries, I highly recommend searching the Buy Buy Baby site for bottle sets. I got the Dr. Brown’s Options All-In-One gift set which included different bottle and nipple sizes as well as a warmer and bottle cleaner. I love that I am all set in the bottle department which this one simple purchase. (HOWEVER- if you aren’t sure what bottle you prefer or what bottle your baby takes, I would hold off on putting this on your registry. Some babies try A LOT of bottles before they find one they like. I know my first, Cammy, tried literally every bottle on the market before I had to special order one so just take that as food for thought as you plan your registry.)
Baby BathtubI LOVE infant bath time. It is just such a way to bond and connect with your baby as their experience so much sensory input. When it comes to bath time, I prefer a tub. Some moms opt for sink baths and I know Buy Buy Baby has a Blooming Baby Bath Lotus which is highly recommended but I have just never had a sink big enough for this to make sense for me. I went with the Aquascale Digital Scale and Thermometer 3-in-1 Infant Bath Tub. Now are all these bells and whistles essential? No, not necessarily. Any infant bath tub on Buy Buy Baby will do, but because Ronan has had feeding issues from day 1, I wanted to be able to closely track his weight gain, especially while we are away from home and our lactation consultant. I LOVE this bath. I love the way that it cradles him, I love have I KNOW I am giving him bath water at a comfortable temperature, and I LOVE seeing his weight gain every day!
As Ronan grows, I am constantly looking for places to safely set him down that will not only benefit his development but keep him entertained while I have two free hands. So many friends recommended the Fisher-Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat and I absolutely love it. At 3.5 months old, Ronan is already sitting up in it and enjoying the toys. He looks like such a big boy in there. Back at home in Virginia, we also have a Bumbo seat which you can find on Buy Buy Baby. Gosh- I really don’t know which one I would pick if I had to choose! You can’t go wrong either way!
I personally do not pass down teething toys between kiddos so every baby of mine has gotten their own Sophie the Giraffe. Buy Buy Baby has all of the top selling options for baby swings (and I have tried MANY of them)! In my home, my babies love the Fisher-Price Snuggle Monkey swing the most. I cant explain how magically it soothes all of my kiddos but I know this is my NUMBER ONE FAVORITE MUST HAVE BABY ITEM! Ask my parents- when we arrived in Tennessee, all I could talk about was how I could not wait for my swing to be delivered so life could be grand again. As soon as it arrived, Ronan finally felt right at home.
I purchased one more item from Buy Buy Baby that actually has nothing to do with a baby registry BUT if you have older kiddos, I thought it would be helpful to let you know they have toddler toys as well! Coming to Tennessee, our 2 and 3 year old had to leave their toys behind which I felt awful about. Thanks to Buy Buy Baby, I was able to purchase them a Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Food Truck. They have been whipping me up meals and smoothies daily and I am so grateful that they have toys of their own to make our temporary situation feel like home.
